C3 Ambiental is a Brazilian company founded in 2020 with the aim of reconciling the conservation of natural resources, increasing carbon stocks, rural development, and the country's economic growth. With scientific knowledge and the use of advanced technology, C3 operates on the front lines of the fight against climate change, always with social responsibility.
We act intelligently and sustainably in promoting the green economy through the generation of carbon credits, fostering the national and international carbon market, the conservation of native forests, and the recovery of degraded areas.
We promote the social development of rural communities in Brazil by compensating rural producers for environmental services rendered, thus resulting in an improved quality of life in the countryside.
Our story
C3 Ambiental emerged from the desire to unite people and forests in the pursuit of sustainable socio-environmental development. To make this a reality, we encourage rural producers, especially family farmers, to conserve the natural resources of our planet.
Our focus is to act in a truly inclusive socio-environmental way. In this way, we seek to assist rural producers in providing ecosystem services, through the conservation and regeneration of native forests and the adoption of good agricultural practices, promoting remuneration through fixed forest carbon credits.
The use of advanced remote sensing and geoprocessing methodologies in monitoring carbon sequestration and environmental services generated by rural producers ensures the accurate and transparent calculation of carbon credits of forest origin.
But why C3?
To understand what motivated us to adopt the name C3 Ambiental, it's necessary to explain a little about photosynthesis, which is the process of carbon fixation. Plants assimilate CO2 (carbon dioxide) from the atmosphere and, in return, produce O2 (oxygen) through their leaves.
There are different carbon fixation mechanisms, known as the C3, C4, and CAM pathways. In plants that use the C3 pathway, the product resulting from CO2 fixation is a 3-carbon molecule with a complicated name, 3-phosphoglyceric acid, also known as 3PGA. Therefore, plants that use this photosynthetic mechanism are called C3 plants.
Trees utilize the C3 pathway for carbon fixation and energy production. Since our main purpose is the conservation and restoration of forests, which contain a large number of trees, the photosynthetic pathway they use, the C3 pathway, inspired our brand.
Furthermore, our actions aim to promote remuneration for rural producers and family farmers for environmental services provided, mainly with regard to CO2 sequestration.
Through consulting and trading of sequestered carbon, we are thus marking our 3Cs as our objective. Associated with this, three words represent our mode of action: Creativity, Knowledge, and Competence – the 3Cs of C3 Ambiental.
